All direct quarry by-products are non-selective in colour and often vary in size and thickness as there is no further processing involved with producing these products.

There are some raw products used for landscaping, paving and retaining walls that are produced at our factories. These products can have a degree of colour selection and can be supplied on pallets making it easy to transport. These include:

The two main raw and split materials used for landscape paving are the 40-80mm thick Quarry Split Flagging and “50mm” diamond sawn irregular Crazy paving.

The Split flagging sandstone is a direct quarry material with a natural stone face and irregular sizes and thicknesses .this is an ideal product to create a “cobble stone” organic look paving and can be laid on compressed compacted soil as it is variable in thickness (40mm-80mm)
The Sawn “crazy Paving” is a smooth irregular “jigsaw” paving style that is a standard thickness making it an easy installation option. The crazy paving is made up of broken offcuts from slabs and paving and is pre-palletised in non-selective colours. If you are looking to control colour ad sizes of crazy paving, Gosford quarries’ range of raw sandstone slabs can be colour selected and broken up on site by installers to create the “Crazy” pattern paving.

Solid Ballast
Ballast is a raw sandstone product that comprises of irregular sized machine-split sandstone blocks approximately 150mm-20mm thick. Ballast is the sandstone product most used to create dry-stack random walls. It is a popular retaining wall solution as these blocks are manageable by hand and can be installed skilfully to add character to any retaining wall, fence fireplace or feature wall. This Ballast product is also available in a convenient 60mm-80mm thick cladding option so you can achieve the “Random” dry-stack style on an existing structure.

Hydrasplit blocks
Hydrasplit blocks are one of the most customisable raw and split sandstone products available. Hydrasplit blocks derive their name from the hydraulic guillotine-split face. These blocks are a fantastic garden edging, planter-box and retaining wall option as they have calibrated heights, customisable thicknesses and a diamond sawn top, bottom and edges which make it a conveniently stacked “brick” solution. These blocks are available in stock at 125mm thick however can also be cut at 150mm, 200mm, 250mm or 300m-600mm thicknesses to suit any project requirement.

Solid Walling Blocks
Solid walling blocks are similar to the Hydrasplit blocks mentioned above, as they have a hydrasplit front back and diamond sawn top and bottom and ends. However, solid walling blocks are non-selective in colour and are only available in one size:
900-1200mm (L) x 300 (w) x 300 (h)
These are a fantastic, easily stackable permanent retaining option and are ideal for residential scale projects and landscaping projects alike.
