Owner & Builder – Sandstone Residential Project – Brown rockface cladding | Sandstone House Build
“Dianne & I have built it with sandstone from Gosford Quarries, which was supplied through Dustin Butcher and his team at the Melbourne outlet in Clayton.
We have always liked sandstone as a natural stone building material, so we started by doing the two side walls of our new office to see if we liked the finished result. We laid these walls ourselves, with great support and help from Dustin and his team. We loved the result and built our house—a substantial stone veneer farmhouse featuring Gosford stone.
We have used a more traditional building style, with the sandstone featuring traditional Quoin stones on the corners and a similar approach around the windows. All of the sharp corners were bevelled to prevent chipping, and the window sills and lintel stones were specially cut as one piece.
The customer service and support from Gosford Quarries with the project and its special pieces were fantastic. Their “can do” attitude was great, helping them do all the fiddly bits that give quality results.
If you want to build a Sandstone house, you need to talk to Gosford Quarries, but we cannot recommend them highly enough.”
